Bungalows change the job
Ainsdale has a much higher proportion of bungalows and single-storey property than the rest of the coast, and that changes rendering in practical ways. Most of it can be reached off towers rather than a full scaffold, which takes real cost out of a job — worth knowing before you assume a re-render is out of reach.
It also means more of the wall is close to the ground, and low-level walls take more abuse: splash-back from paths and drives, mower and bin damage, and moisture wicking up from a path that has been laid too high against the wall. Bellcast detailing at the bottom of the render matters more here than anywhere.
The dune belt is genuinely more exposed
Ainsdale sits right against the dunes, and the walls facing that open ground get wind, sand and salt with nothing in the way. It is a harsher environment than a street of terraces two miles inland, and finishes that are perfectly adequate elsewhere fail early here.
The response is not a magic product, it is doing the ordinary things properly: stripping what has failed rather than covering it, full mesh reinforcement in the basecoat, primer, and a top coat that is water-repellent and vapour-open. Then sensible maintenance — keeping gutters clear so nothing is running down a wall that is already taking the weather.
Extensions, conversions and newer stock
There is a lot of extended and converted property in Ainsdale — side extensions, garage conversions and loft rooms on bungalows and 1960s–80s houses. That work usually needs both halves of what we do: rendering outside so the addition is not obvious, and boarding and skimming inside so the new room matches the old ones.
On a bungalow in particular, rendering the whole frontage rather than just the new section is often what makes the difference between a conversion that reads as part of the house and one that is spotted from the pavement.

Do I need a full scaffold for a bungalow?
Often not. A lot of Ainsdale is single storey and can be worked off towers, which takes real cost out of the job. We will tell you at estimate stage which access your property needs and what it adds.
Our walls face the dunes and take a battering. What lasts?
A breathable, water-repellent system properly built up — stripping what has failed, full mesh in the basecoat, primer, then a silicone top coat. There is no product that survives that exposure over bad preparation, which is what most early failures actually are.
Do you cover the whole of Ainsdale?
Yes. We are based on Sheepfold Close in Southport, so Ainsdale is a short run out and there is no travel charge. We are usually able to come and look at a job within a few days of you calling.
