Who we are
Birkdale Plastering and Rendering is Anthony, working out of Sheepfold Close in Southport and covering Birkdale, Ainsdale, Formby, Churchtown, Crosby, Ormskirk and out towards Banks. When you ring, you get the person who will actually be on your walls — not a call centre and not a salesman.
The work splits roughly in two. Outside: external rendering, full silicone systems, pebbledash removal and repairs. Inside: skimming and float and set, dry lining, decorative and period plasterwork, bespoke media walls, and finishing out loft conversions, extensions and converted garages.
The standard we hold to
Preparation decides everything. A finish is only ever as good as what it is stuck to, so we assess the substrate honestly before quoting, strip what has failed rather than covering it, and build the system up in full — mesh, primer and top coat outside, scrim and beads inside.
We work to the weather rather than against it. Coastal render work has a window, and putting a top coat on in front of frost or driving rain produces a wall that crazes. Moving a day is inconvenient; a compromised finish is permanent.
What you can expect
A free written estimate after we have actually looked at the walls. Full insurance on every job. Floors and ground sheeted and protected before anything starts, waste contained and taken away, and the site swept and cleared down at the end of every working day — the thing customers mention most often in the reviews.
You will also be told where the job is up to as it goes along. Rendering in particular looks alarming in the middle, when the old finish is off and the wall is bare, and knowing what happens next is the difference between a stressful fortnight and a straightforward one.
And a straight answer. If a job is not worth doing the way you have described it, or if what you actually need is a different trade, we will tell you that instead of taking the work.

Anthony rendered the gable wall and single storey kitchen of my house. He did an excellent job of the work. Anthony fully explained the process and where he was up to as it progressed. He made sure that surrounding area and walls were protected from any debris or render during the process and did an excellent job of cleaning up both as it progressed and at the end. Anthony was also a pleasure to deal with as a tradesman. In addition his price was really competitive compared to other renderers who quoted.
